We define heritage tourism as “Traveling to Discover the Forts, Caves, Ancient Structures & its Ruins along with experiencing Local places, artefacts, and activities that authentically represent the stories and people of the past and present. It includes Heritage, cultural, historic and natural resources.” Generally Maharashtra is known for luxury or leisure holidays to Mahabaleshwar, Konkan, Mumbai, Pune, Kolhapur, Aurangabad, Nasik etc.
If we conduct Heritage Tours to Forts & Ancient Monuments throughout Maharashtra like Marathwada & Vidarbh, it will create equal opportunities in the state. That will bring equilibrium in the Maharashtra tourism industry. Each Fort or Heritage site will bring lots of opportunities to Local Villagers & Communities. More and more people are seeking unique travel experiences that combine Ancient Monuments, history, culture, cuisine, People, Lifestyle & authenticity. A cultural heritage tourism survey which was conducted recently revealed that set percentage of leisure travellers seek participation in cultural and/or heritage activities while traveling. These cultural and heritage travellers stay longer, spend more, and travel more often as they are not just a tourist but an explorers. They also tend to be well travelled, better educated, more sophisticated, and often more affluent than other tourists. Overseas cultural heritage travellers visiting Maharashtra tend to be more first-time travellers, stay shorter in the State, and visit veryfew destinations than the average traveller does in the other states. We are working on a mission where these sort of travellers get exposed to numerous travel opportunities within Maharashtra like Heritage Tourism, Forts, Caves etc.
